More about Sian:
Sian is an MPH student at Yale School of Public Health with a nutrition and dietetics background. The son of two immigrant parents from rural communities, he explores cultures through recipes, restaurants, travel, and, of course, farming. He seeks to improve food security through sovereign food practices, such as scaling cultural wisdoms to community-wide food production. His fellowship brought him to his mother's home country of Guyana, where he explored how subsistence farming correlates with community dietary health and knowledge.
Sian was born and raised in Queens, NY, where constant cultural exposure fueled his curiosity in cuisine. His Guyanese heritage instills his passion for cooking and dinner party hosting, while his Austrian side creates his passion for sports, including ice hockey, skiing, and biking. He's worked for multiple urban farms, catering businesses, and healthcare research missions, always centering food and health justice in his work.
